About Eva

Eva is a practising clinical psychologist who is also Director of the Human Factors and Patient Safety (HFPS) training, research and assessment programme at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). Eva’s recent publications and research interests include the topics of personality factors and medical training, emotional intelligence and professional medical competencies as well as the assessment of improvements and the provision of remediation in communication competencies following training.

In addition to my academic and clinical responsibilities, I am available to speak on a range of topics either to gathered audiences or to the media. Below are examples of recent media appearances. I am currently a member of the communications panel of the Psychological Society of Ireland. My interests range from emotions, emotional intelligence to stress management and to the many aspects of training doctors in effective communication skills. I am the current elected Deputy National Representative of the European Association for Communication in Healthcare (EACH) for Ireland.
